Success Stories: Chinese Postdoctoral Scholar in the Field of Biochemistry Receives EB-1A Petition Approval from Nebraska Service Center

Client’s Testimonial:

“Thank you very much for the guidance and help [these] past months! I could not have it done without you!”

On February 18th, 2016, we received another EB-1A (Alien of Extraordinary Ability) approval for a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Field of Biochemistry (Approval Notice).

General Field: Biochemistry

Position at the Time of Case Filing: Postdoctoral Scholar

Country of Origin: China

Service Center: Nebraska Service Center (NSC)

State of Residence at the Time of Filing: Illinois

Approval Notice Date: February 18th, 2016

Processing Time: 38 days (Premium Processing requested)

Case Summary:

This case involved a postdoctoral scholar from China who needed North America Immigration Law Group’s expertise to file a strong EB-1A (Alien of Extraordinary Ability) petition.

Premium Processing:

A month after we filed the petition, our client decided that he wanted to upgrade his case to Premium Processing (PP). PP is only available for EB-1 cases and allows for adjudication to take place in 15 days or less. Although applicants have to pay the USCIS roughly $1000 more, PP is a significant time-saving option as the average processing time currently lies between 4-9 months.

Preparing the EB-1A Petition Dossier:

It took our legal team several months to gather and incorporate all the essentials into our EB-1A petition packet. Amongst other things, it contained proof that our client had conducted 19 peer reviews for scientific journals (gathered from thank you letters), and the 186 citations to our client’s work (obtained from sources such as Google Scholar). We also included information on our client’s 7 publications and numerous presentations at national and international conferences.

We then urged our client to coordinate with potential recommenders and talk them into contributing testimonials. These letters served as evidence that our client’s work is recognized by the international scientific community and that halting his work would be detrimental to the advancement of the field of biochemistry within and outside the United States. One of our client’s five recommenders had this to say about our client: “[Client] possesses skills and experience in applying nanotechnology to cancer treatment and diagnostics and experience in evaluating chemotherapy that has informed the unique and immensely beneficial scope of his research that will only continue as his research commences.”

In short, our meticulous efforts and our client’s impressive credentials convinced Nebraska Service Center to approve this EB-1A petition. We congratulate our client on the good news and wish him well as he continues to advance his field of biochemistry.
