Case Summary:

The client that North America Immigration Law had the opportunity to work with in this case was an associate professor from Turkey. Her work has focused specifically on political economy, economic development and policy reform. We successfully demonstrated that her continued employment in the field would benefit those in her field, as well as the citizens of the United States at large. In order for our client’s case to be successful, we submitted extensive documentation proving her highly significant contributions to her field, including 3 peer-reviewed journal articles (all of them first-authored), 1 working paper, 1 IMF policy report and at least 4 conference papers. Her publications had been cited at least 38 times at the time we filed the case; nearly all of the citations were by independent researchers around the world, demonstrating that these publications are widely recognized and relied upon in the field.  The importance of her work was confirmed in the following quote from an independent recommender, “As one of the academics who has relied upon her research, I confirm that [client’s] doctoral work has been influential in demonstrating the value of taking political economy factors into account when evaluating the success of IMF programs. Further studies by researchers like [client] are necessary so that the IMF can improve the use of its resources, which in turn will promote international investment by countries such as the United States…[I]t is very beneficial to support [client] in her efforts, and … her expertise and ability to combine econometrics and qualitative measures contributes to the accumulation of knowledge in our field.” Through extensive documentation, we were able to successfully argue that our client would serve the national interest to a significantly greater degree than others with similar education and experience. Her NIW petition was approved in 8 months and 25 days.
