On October 12th, 2022, we received another EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) approval for a Graduate Research Assistant in the Field of Environmental Science (Approval Notice).

General Field: Environmental Science

Position at the Time of Case Filing: Graduate Research Assistant

Country of Origin: Pakistan

State of Residence at the Time of Filing: Ohio

Approval Notice Date: October 12th, 2022

Processing Time: 6 months, 12 days

Case Summary:

An expert in the field of environmental science approached NAILG for her National Interest Waiver application. At the time, she was employed as a graduate research assistant in the area and had completed her Master of engineering. Her work in the field was aimed at studying the geomorphological and hydrological features of urban watersheds to minimize pollution and improve the health of urban streams. Since her work was directed toward the rehabilitation and continued health of urban streams and watersheds, we realized that it was of great importance and it also had broad implications for the United States. We knew that the health and revitalization of urban streams bring many tangible benefits to Americans due to which her work had been supported by funding from the National Science Foundation (NSF).

Additionally, her work resulted in 3 peer-reviewed journal articles and 1 peer-reviewed conference article (all first-authored). Not only this but her work has also gone on to influence her peers. That is, her publications have been cited a total of 15 times, according to Google Scholar.

Her research on deprivation potential and sugar cane farming also stood out in the field due to her exploration of different, creative solutions to improve water efficiency in an agricultural setting in ways that minimize the adverse effects of water scarcity. Along with all of the above work in the field, she also pursued her proposed endeavor for 6 years. This had given her vital experience drawing support from 4 other experts in form of letters of recommendation winning her the approval from the adjudicating bench at the USCIS without an RFE.

We are glad to have been able to help her prove her worth to the country and we are happy to see her continue her research for the betterment of the American masses.
