General Field: Computer Science

Position at the Time of Case Filing: Head of Laboratory

Country of Origin: Russia

Country of Residence at the Time of Filing: Russia

Approval Notice Date: June 9th, 2021

Processing Time: 16 months, 17 days

Case Summary:

Equipped with a Ph.D. in technical sciences, our client proposed to advance in the field of computer science and hired North America Immigration Law Group to file an I-140 NIW (National Interest Waiver) petition on his behalf. When he approached us, we asked him to provide all the relevant and credible evidence that could persuade USCIS to permit his NIW approval without any hurdles.

After receiving the package of his credentials, we were sure of his suitability for the national interest waiver success. Thus, we agreed to take his case for which we assembled an array of probative details and incorporated them in his petition package in the most distinctive way possible. Here are the following:

Research Summary & Funding Grants- Our client’s work focused on image processing and computer vision to secure permanent employment in the United States. We deduced that his research is crucial for remote sensing, medical imaging, acoustic imaging, and forensics. Moreover, his research has been supported with funding from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, the Russian Foundation for Basic Research, the Russian Science Foundation, Ural Federal University, Omega LTD, and the U.S. Department of State, which are all nationally and internationally significant organizations. The receipt of funding from such organizations also indicates that our client is a particularly productive researcher.

Publication & Citation Count- We observed that in computer science, papers in peer-reviewed conferences are accepted as high-quality scholarly articles, thus we noted our client’s remarkable publication record of 146 peer-reviewed journal and conference articles, 2 books, 10 book chapters, and 45 patents, proving how his work is well recognized by his peers. Also, his publications altogether garnered 569 citations, indicating that these publications are widely relied upon in the field of computer science.

Peer Review Experience- Not only did he have a notable record of success in publications and citations but he had also conducted at least 50 peer reviews for 15 highly acclaimed journals, confirming that only top-level experts in their field are invited to perform this important review work and our client is one among them. In addition, his expertise and experience have been recognized through his appointment to leadership positions within the field as well, including positions as session chair and held positions on the program committee. Given the considerable expert understanding required to fulfill such positions, it is noticeable that these roles reflect our client’s vital role in the field of computer science.

Letters of Support- To strengthen our client’s case further, we added four of his obtained recommendation letters from fellow superiors, and one of them contributed the below-stated insight on his intended work:

“To further demonstrate the importance of [client’s] work, it is helpful to keep in mind that the United States is the global leader in technology. Most of the world’s leading technology companies are headquartered here, which has a profound effect on the U.S. economy. The success of the American digital technology industry depends [on] innovations made by leading researchers like him in computer science… The United States thus has a stake in continuing to support him in order to maintain its leadership in the technology industry.”

Despite USCIS adjudicating our client’s case for 16 months and 17 days, he was granted the NIW approval without raising any further request for evidence. We congratulate him on accomplishing this success and thank our team for being hard-working in preparing his I-140 NIW case. We were successful in proving how our client’s research in his area is thus of great international importance because it significantly improves digital image processing, which has a wide range of applications. Our diligence has indeed paved our client’s way a major step ahead in getting his green card. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors.
