Success Stories: After waiting 1 Year and 4 Months, a Graduate Teaching Assistant Secured NIW Approval in the Field of Mathematics without RFE

Client’s Testimonial:

“Thank you very much for your excellent work!”

On July 6th, 2020, we received another NIW (National Interest Waiver) approval for a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Field of Mathematics (Approval Notice).

General Field: Mathematics

Position at the Time of Case Filing: Graduate Teaching Assistant

Country of Origin: Uzbekistan

State of Residence at the Time of Filing: Pennsylvania

Approval Notice Date: July 6th, 2020

Processing Time: 1 year, 4 months and 3 weeks

Case Summary:

Our client’s Master’s in Mathematics assured us that he has the theoretical and practical knowledge to conduct outstanding research in the field of mathematics. Even so, we carefully evaluated the rest of his credentials to be sure that he was a good candidate for the national interest waiver. Once we determined that he was, we compiled as much relevant information as we could to build a strong EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) case for him.

What did we highlight?

Because we had to prove to the USCIS that our client’s work is of national importance, we detailed his work on the statistical properties and thermodynamic formalism for smooth dynamical systems. We concluded that his research in this area is of great importance because it helps further a range of applications that make use of dynamical systems. His research therefore, is furthering the development of theoretical, mathematical models that have valuable real-world applications, benefiting healthcare and the development of new medical models and technologies to improve the quality of treatment.

We also noted our client’s 11 peer-reviewed journal articles (eight of them first-authored), one ArXiv preprint, three conference papers, and a book chapter, and the 119 citations gathered from his work. As further evidence that our client is a force to be reckoned with, we detailed the 11 times he was invited to judge the work of his peers. We also incorporated four recommendation letters that strongly advocated for the approval of his NIW petition. These letters were volunteered by other influential members of the field, one of whom stated that:

“[Client’s] work has benefited and continues to benefit the best interests of the United States, lending support to its economy and to the progress of mathematical and scientific research. The great utility of his research is undeniable.”

Obtaining petition approval:

The USCIS spent 1 year 4 months and 3 weeks adjudicating our client’s case before granting their approval. We congratulate our client for coming this far in the green card process, and we thank him for trusting North America Immigration Law Group (NAILG) to help him get here.
