Success Stories: In Less Than 7 Months, NIW Confirmation Obtained for a Researcher in Materials Science Hailing from Bangladesh

Client’s Testimonial:

“Thank you very much for your continuous support from the beginning to ending of the I-140 petition process. I am very much happy to receive the I-140 petition approval. It is really another great success of Chen immigration as well as my career path.”

On April 25th, 2022, we received another EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) approval for a Researcher in the Field of Materials Science (Approval Notice).

General Field: Materials Science

Position at the Time of Case Filing: Researcher

Country of Origin: Bangladesh

Country of Residence at the Time of Filing: Japan

Approval Notice Date: April 25th, 2022

Processing Time: 6 months, 21 days

Case Summary:

Armed with a Ph.D. in electronic engineering, a researcher in materials science from Bangladesh came to NAILG seeking help with his NIW (National Interest Waiver) application. As is customary with other clients, our team made sure to provide him with the best service possible. So as soon as we had signed the retainer with him, we began collecting evidence to prove the significance of his work for the country and found the following:

  • As an expert in the field of materials science, his proposed endeavor was to continue researching nanostructure fabrication and wafer process development in order to synthesize next-generation solar cells for use in high-speed electronic applications and in combating energy crises.
  • His research was of great importance because it enables the replacement of environmentally harmful fuels with solar energy. His work, by making solar cells more effective and easier to produce, allows solar energy to be used for an increasing proportion of global energy needs, leading to greatly reduced emissions and a slower rate of climate change. This is why one of his recommenders said:

“[The client’s] research is of significant importance, as it contributes to the construction of an environmentally sustainable framework in which people can lead productive and sustainable lives within society’s boundaries. Because of the work of material scientists like [the client], it is no longer absolutely necessary to use oil and gas since alternative energy sources are becoming more and more worthwhile and practical. [The client], in advancing the technology of solar cells, has aided in tackling this global concern.”

This made it evident that his proposed endeavor also has broad implications for the United States, since the United States electric power sector is responsible for 28% of all the nation’s greenhouse gas emissions, and it is thus the main target for controlling those emissions. Our client’s research, therefore, which increases the efficiency of solar energy production and thus makes it more available to Americans, carries immense economic as well as environmental benefits for the United States. This is why another recommender said:

“[The client’s] successful work to improve the efficiency and production of solar panels correlates to a growing demand in the United States for renewable energy. The United States is clearly in need of improved methods for adopting renewable energy use. Thus, the importance of research on solar cells and other technologies reliant upon renewable resources cannot be overstated. [The client] and other materials scientists have advanced the ability of individuals and groups to achieve these goals by making more evolved versions of solar cells.”

Academically too, our client has performed very well and his 12 years of hard work have led to thorough reliability in his experience. This is why he has been invited to conduct peer reviews of which he has completed 3 already. His research has also resulted in 13 peer-reviewed journal articles (7 of them first-authored) and 12 conference papers (10 of them first-authored) and 1 technical report. Not only this, but his research has also gone on to influence his peers. That is, these publications have been cited a total of 121 times according to Google Scholar.

The evidence also shows that his research holds significant value for reducing the United States’ greenhouse gas emissions and for advancing the American solar energy industry. This is why the adjudication of his case did not take very long. We are proud to have worked with him and helped him get his NIW confirmation in less than 7 months.
