Case Summary:
With a Ph.D. in electrical engineering, there is no denying that our client, a research associate from Rwanda, is capable of carrying out effective research in his field. His work has led to various accomplishments, a couple of which include, 7 peer-reviewed conference papers (1 first-authored), and 1 book chapter which gathered a total of 61 citations.
When preparing his petition packet, we paid close attention to his research on semiconductor materials, terahertz devices, and lasers. We gathered a wealth of information that proved his findings are relevant to his field because terahertz technology is integral to numerous scientific, commercial, and industrial applications. Terahertz technology enables unprecedented telecommunication speeds, and its properties improve the quality control devices used to test food, drugs, and semiconductors.

As such, it is my expert opinion that he should be granted every opportunity to continue his highly meritorious research.” Another expert noted that: “Therefore, if U.S. technology companies intend to capitalize on these growing markets and maintain their place at the leading edge of discovery, it is certain that they would benefit from [client’s] continued presence in the field.” Undoubtedly, these letters affirmed our client’s candidature for receiving the national interest waiver.
We are pleased that the USCIS was persuaded to approve the petition in less than 6 months, and we thank our client for retaining us for his I-485 application which makes him more close to his green card.
