Case Summary:

Another exceptional client that Chen Immigration Law Associates had the pleasure of working with was a research scientist from Taiwan working in the field of computer science. His research had focused specifically on visual information retrieval and unstructured data mining to improve and protect the interests of Internet users, as well as medical informatics research and the design of personalized healthcare tools. We at Chen Immigration Law Associates demonstrated that his continued employment in the field would not only benefit those in his field, but the citizens of the United States at large. To achieve success in this case, we submitted extensive documentation proving our client’s highly significant contributions to the field of computer science, including at least 3 peer-reviewed journal articles, 18 conference papers, 1 patent, and 14 high-quality patent applications in the domain of health informatics. His publications had been cited at least 92 times at the time of case filing.  Of his accomplishments, one of the recommenders remarked: “[Client’s] multifarious skills in pattern recognition, computer vision, and information retrieval allowed him to construct a visual data search engine capable of resolving the ever-increasing demand of unstructured image and video data search and detection in the internet. To this end, he has developed a number of original visual-bag-of-word-based visual information retrieval methods, as well as several algorithms that can be used to capture users’ real intention in search task, which will improve the search accuracy. When tested, his pioneering algorithms have successfully demonstrated a several-fold increase in search recall and precision without introducing and extra burden to users.” Through extensive documentation, we at Chen Immigration Law Associates successfully argued that our client would serve the national interest to a significantly greater degree than others with similar education and experience. His NIW application was approved in 12 weeks.
