Client’s Testimonial:

“Thanks very much to the whole team for the assistance and hard work.”

On October 28th, 2022, we received another EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) approval for an Internal Medicine Resident in the Field of Nephrology (Approval Notice).

General Field: Nephrology

Position at the Time of Case Filing: Internal Medicine Resident

Country of Origin: Dominican Republic

State of Residence at the Time of Filing: New York

Approval Notice Date: October 28th, 2022

Processing Time: 3 months, 14 day

Case Summary:

“Given that kidney disorders, both chronic and acute, are becoming a significant problem for large numbers of the global population, understanding its impact in the presence of other diseases or conditions is paramount. [The client’s] work has directly addressed this issue, both in the context of complement-mediated pregnancy disorders that affect the kidneys and in the context of infectious diseases such as COVID-19, marking her out among her peers for her beneficial contributions to global public health.”

“[The client], the subject of this letter, is one of the well-known nephrologists in the field investigating the relationship between kidney disease, acute kidney injury, and their complications in the presence of pregnancy and infectious diseases. [Client’s] research is critical for helping clinicians around the country manage complications with kidney disease and prevent this underlying condition from causing poor health outcomes in the United States.”

These are excerpts from letters of recommendation written for an expert in the field of nephrology from the Dominican Republic. She had come to us in April of 2022 seeking help with her NIW (National Interest Waiver) petition. Her proposed endeavor was to continue her research on improving the management and implementation of care for patients with chronic kidney disease and related conditions in order to improve health outcomes and reduce healthcare expenditures. Thus, it was clear that her research was of great importance because it provides an avenue for reducing the mortalities and costs associated with major diseases including kidney disease and COVID-19.

In her research, our client has performed critical research on the pathogenesis of kidney disease and the factors driving its effective treatment and severity including the association of COVID-19 and kidney disease. Her efforts, therefore, provide a basis for reducing the global burden of kidney disease on public health. Her proposed endeavor also has broad implications for the United States since according to the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, over 1 in 7 or approximately 37 million adults in the United States currently have chronic kidney disease.

On the other hand, her research has resulted in 3 peer-reviewed journal articles (2 of them first-authored) and these papers have been cited at least 8 times already. This meant that she is actively engaged in experiments within and without the laboratory. Thus, her work also represents progress toward her larger goal of advancing the management and implementation of care for patients with chronic kidney disease and related conditions. At the same time, she plans to hold a position that is narrowly tailored to her unique skill set.

All of these factors weighed in during the adjudication process, winning her the NIW approval quickly. We thank her for choosing our firm and wish her the very best.
