Case Summary:

A civil engineer II in the field of structural engineering approached us with a proposed endeavor to develop novel structural health monitoring techniques and algorithms to improve the safety and reliability of structures. Among other researchers, his research is to continue his development of novel structural health monitoring techniques and algorithms to improve the safety and reliability of structures, including bridges and buildings, and mitigate vibrations during extreme events, such as earthquakes and hurricanes.

Furthermore, his research is of great importance because it provides novel and efficient means of overcoming existing problems by detecting deficiencies in buildings, bridges, and other structures. His proposed work on developing novel structural health monitoring techniques and algorithms to improve the safety and reliability of structures, including his current work at The Massachusetts Department of Transportation, therefore has substantial merit.
