Success Stories: A Ph.D. Candidate from Taiwan Secures NIW Approval Just 4 Days after Case Submission, A Special Thanks to Premium Processing Upgrade

Client’s Testimonial:

“Great job! Thank you for your hard work.”

On August 4th, 2023, we received another NIW (National Interest Waiver) approval for a Ph.D. Candidate in the Field of Mechanical Engineering (Approval Notice).

General Field: Mechanical Engineering

Position at the Time of Case Filing: Ph.D. Candidate

Country of Origin: Taiwan

State of Residence at the Time of Filing: Maryland

Approval Notice Date: August 4th, 2023

Processing Time: 4 days (Premium Processing Requested)

Case Summary:

Our NIW (National Interest Waiver) client from Taiwan in the field of mechanical engineering, proposed to continue his research on utilizing heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and compressor technology to investigate system-level energy efficiency to improve the energy efficiency of components in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning applications. We deduced that his research has great substantial merit and national importance among other applications as his research is relevant to energy efficiency strategies, reduced energy consumption, and greenhouse gas emissions as well as improved public safety.

In addition, we noted that the 3 peer-reviewed journal articles, 2 conference articles (2 of them first-authored), and 6 patents (5 of them first-authored) resulting from his study have been published in at least three highly deemed peer-reviewed journals. Similarly, his peers have been influenced by his study as his research has been cited a total of 24 times, indicating that our client has had a major influence on other scholars’ understanding of these topics of how others in the field have directly benefited from his research.

Correspondingly, we specified that he received an M.S. and a B.S. in mechanical engineering and served as a teaching assistant at a well-known University. Fellow experts have also described the importance of our client’s background and experience in more detail in letters of support.

Due to his knowledge and expertise in refrigerant compressors in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) applications, he has been regularly invited to conduct peer reviews for an authoritative conference in the field. To consider, he has completed at least 1 review to date. Therefore, it is clear that our client is seen as very knowledgeable in the field and an expert in topics related to his proposed endeavor.

Furthermore, his study has received funding from the Ministry of Science and Technology (Taiwan), and the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy. In sum, his work on the utilization of phase change nanofluids, specifically Eicosane-in-water Nano-PCM emulsion, for superior heat transfer serves as evidence that he has already made progress toward his larger effort to advance system-level energy efficiency.

To strengthen his NIW case, we effectively discussed how his research has made significant progress in achieving his broader goal of improving the performance of scroll compressors with subcooled refrigerant injection. Therefore, North America Immigration Law Group successfully convinced USCIS that our client has effectively advanced the field and the work of his peers by offering a new paradigm in energy efficiency. Consequently, this work represents progress toward his larger goal of advancing system-level energy efficiency, particularly within heating, ventilation, and air conditioning applications. As a result, it was confirmed that he should be allowed to continue his studies in the US. After applying for the premium processing service upgrade, his NIW case was approved in just 4 days. We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors and are grateful that he selected us to represent his NIW case.
