Client’s Testimonial:

“Thank you! I am extremely pleased with this outcome. It was a pleasure working with your team on this case!”

On January 12th, 2026, we received another EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) approval for a Graduate Researcher in the Field of Chemical Engineering (Approval Notice).

General Field: Chemical Engineering

Position at the Time of Case Filing: Graduate Researcher

Country of Origin: China

State of Residence at the Time of Filing: Colorado

Approval Notice Date: January 12th, 2026

Processing Time: 2 months, 19 days (Premium Processing Upgrade Requested)

Case Summary:

We are pleased to share the approval of an I-140 EB-2 National Interest Waiver (NIW) petition for the client, a chemical engineering researcher with an M.S. in chemical engineering. The client’s proposed endeavor is to continue developing and implementing a high-throughput molecular dynamics simulation framework and a distributable software platform for modeling and characterizing protein-polymer bioconjugates at atomic resolution. We presented this work as an area of clear, substantial merit and national importance because it supports the development of better-performing drug therapeutics while also enabling modeling approaches relevant to energy-related materials and systems.

In the petition, we emphasized that the client’s work is not limited to theory. By building high-throughput simulation workflows and a distributable platform, the client is creating computational tools that can be reused by a broad set of researchers and engineers to better understand protein-polymer interactions, improve bioconjugate design, and accelerate iterative testing. We framed the national value around two major themes: (1) stronger therapeutic design pathways that can improve efficacy and reduce unintended effects, and (2) improved modeling and characterization capabilities that support performance-driven materials development for energy applications. We also highlighted that making the platform distributable increases national benefit because the impact can extend beyond any single organization.

Establishing a Record of Research Excellence
The client’s record included 6 peer-reviewed journal articles (including 1 first-authored publication) and 8 conference abstracts (including 4 first-authored abstracts), along with 70 citations.

We did not treat the number of citations as automatically sufficient. Instead, we framed the citations as evidence of independent reliance, meaning other researchers found the client’s methods and results useful enough to incorporate into their own work. We further strengthened this point by contextualizing that several of the client’s publications performed exceptionally well relative to others in their category and publication year, including two papers that ranked among the top 1% most cited and one paper that ranked among the top 10% most cited. This helped translate raw citation counts into a clearer evaluation of influence.

The petition also documented that the client completed at least 3 peer reviews. We presented this as a trust indicator, since peer review invitations generally reflect editorial confidence in the reviewer’s expertise and judgment. In addition, we included evidence that the client’s work has received funding support from the National Science Foundation and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, which we framed as objective reinforcement that the underlying research direction aligns with nationally relevant priorities.

Expert Endorsements
To corroborate the technical significance of the client’s work and clarify its broader importance, we submitted 2 letters of recommendation from established experts. These letters supported the conclusion that the client’s modeling and simulation contributions are meaningful to the field and useful to other stakeholders working on bioconjugates and complex biomolecular systems.

“[Client’s] influence and overall contributions to his field is evident in his strong citation record and high-quality scientific research publications. It is thus my belief that [Client] is well-positioned in his scientific career and will be successful in executing his proposed research endeavor.”

A Successful Outcome
USCIS approved the client’s NIW petition, reflecting a strong showing that the endeavor has substantial merit and national importance and that the client is well positioned to advance it through a record of peer-reviewed publications, independent citation uptake, selective peer-review service, and major funding support. We are proud to have supported this success and look forward to the client’s continued contributions to broadly usable simulation tools that strengthen innovation in therapeutics and energy-related chemical systems in the United States.
