WeGreened Approval Statistics: Week of August 18, 2025

During the week of August 18 to August 24, 2025, WeGreened received a total of 74 approval notices from the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). The EB-2 National Interest Waiver (NIW) category continued to dominate approvals, representing nearly three-quarters of all cases, while the EB-1A (Alien of Extraordinary Ability) category maintained a strong presence among accomplished researchers and professionals.

Approval Distribution by Category and Service Center

Of the 74 approvals, 55 were for NIW, 16 for EB1A, and 3 for EB1B (Outstanding Professors or Researchers).

The Nebraska Service Center processed 2 EB1A and 23 NIW approvals, while the Texas Service Center handled 12 EB1A and 29 NIW approvals. Additionally, 2 EB1A and 3 NIW cases were transferred from NSC to TSC.

EB1A and NIW Credential Analysis

EB1A petitioners demonstrated strong scholarly productivity, with publications ranging from 4 to 185 articles (median 21) and citations between 152 and 2,771 (median 739.5). This reflects significant academic output and sustained international impact.

NIW petitioners showed a broader range of academic profiles, with publication counts from 3 to 148 (median 12) and citations between 19 and 5,087 (median 193). This distribution underscores USCIS’s flexibility in recognizing both established scholars and industry professionals whose work carries substantial merit and national importance.

Insights on Petitioner Backgrounds and Fields

EB1A approvals this week included petitioners in medicine, computational neuroscience, industrial engineering, and applied plant science. Many were affiliated with universities, research institutes, or clinical institutions in postdoctoral or senior research roles.

NIW approvals spanned renewable energy, environmental sciences, computer science, biomedical research, and civil engineering. Petitioners frequently included industry engineers, applied scientists, and policy researchers whose contributions directly support U.S. economic, healthcare, and technological priorities.

Highlighted Fastest-Approval Case

One notable NIW case this week came from the field of Medical Biotechnology, adjudicated at the Texas Service Center. The petitioner filed on March 17, 2025, and received approval on August 18, 2025 — a turnaround of only 154 days without premium processing.

The petitioner’s record included 91 publications and 2,893 citations, reflecting substantial research productivity and international recognition. The petition highlighted contributions to biomedical innovation and therapeutic development, with direct implications for advancing U.S. healthcare and biotechnology priorities.

Adjudication Trends and Policy Observations

EB1A: USCIS continues to emphasize international recognition, scholarly excellence, and demonstrable leadership in the field.

NIW: Adjudicators remain flexible, approving petitions across diverse backgrounds when the record demonstrates substantial merit and clear alignment with U.S. national priorities.
