Case Summary:
Our team assisted a user-centered design expert, who holds a Ph.D. in design, with an EB-2 NIW petition. In line with our tailored approach for I-140 clients, we carefully assessed the qualifications and crafted a strong, evidence-based petition.
The client’s proposed endeavor focuses on analyzing user emotions and behaviors by integrating facial expression recognition with additional user research methods. This innovative approach seeks to provide deeper insights into how individuals from diverse backgrounds interact with their environments, both physical and digital. The goal is to improve user experience across multiple sectors by advancing more inclusive, adaptive, and effective design solutions.
We demonstrated the substantial merit and national importance of this research, showing how it enhances human-machine interfaces, supports inclusive communication strategies, and contributes to advancing critical technologies in the United States.
To highlight the client’s qualifications, we documented an impressive record of scholarly achievements: 10 peer-reviewed journal articles (7 first-authored), 26 peer-reviewed conference publications (12 first-authored, with 1 accepted), and 1 first-authored book chapter. This body of work has been cited 73 times to date, reflecting meaningful influence in the field. The client has also served as a peer reviewer at least 10 times for respected journals and conferences, an indication of recognized expertise in the discipline.
We further emphasized evidence of competitive funding, including support from Taiwan’s Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) and the National Science and Technology Council (NSC/NSTC). Such funding demonstrates that the client’s research is not only scientifically rigorous but also strategically prioritized at a national level.
The petition also included 2 strong recommendation letters from independent experts and collaborators in the field. These letters underscored the originality and value of the client’s contributions and highlighted the importance of continuing this line of research in the United States.
“Given the influence that [Client’s] work has on academic research and industry applications, I am confident that she will continue to produce works of equal or greater value.”
USCIS approved the client’s NIW petition through Premium Processing shortly after filing. We are proud to have supported this accomplished researcher in achieving this milestone, and we look forward to seeing the continued impact of this important work.
