We are pleased to announce the I-140 EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) approval for an accomplished physician-researcher in the field of cardiovascular health. The client holds an M.D. and pursued a research-focused petition centered on improving cardiovascular outcomes for vulnerable patient populations. Although the case received a Request for Evidence, the petition was ultimately approved after a strong response that clarified the national importance of the endeavor and the client’s record of influence in the field.
As an expert in cardiovascular health, the client’s proposed endeavor is to continue conducting clinical research that leverages extensive healthcare and literature databases to identify factors influencing cardiovascular outcomes in cancer survivors and patients with heart failure. Instead, we explained how an adjudicator could reasonably interpret the publication and citation record as objective evidence that other researchers have relied on the client’s findings, particularly given the clinical and evidence-synthesis nature of the work, where influence is often reflected through adoption in ongoing scholarship and downstream research.
We further supported the impact narrative by highlighting that at least five of the client’s papers ranked among the most highly cited in Clinical Medicine for their years of publication, including one paper in the top 1% and additional papers in top citation percentiles. This helped translate the citation record into an adjudicator-friendly measure of influence by placing the client’s work in context relative to the broader field.
The petition also documented that the client completed at least 5 peer reviews. We positioned this service as an additional indicator of professional trust, reflecting that respected journals rely on the client’s expertise to evaluate the work of other researchers.
The client is currently employed as a resident physician at a U.S. academic medical center. We used this to show the client’s active clinical immersion and continued engagement in cardiovascular research, reinforcing that the client is positioned to sustain and expand the proposed work in the United States.
The petition was further supported by 4 letters of recommendation from experts in the field.
