Case Summary:

In this case, North America Immigration Law Group was given the opportunity to work with a postdoctoral research fellow from Singapore whose research was particularly focused on the roles of hydrogen sulfide and the renin-angiotensin system in cardiovascular health. We showed that his continued employment in his field would benefit both his field in particular and the populace of the United States as a whole. His work had been published in 18 peer-reviewed journal articles as well as being presented at numerous conferences. At the time we filed his case, these publications had received no fewer than 717 citations from independent researchers around the world, a strong testament to the wide reliance upon this research in the field as well as the broad recognition it has received. An independent recommender emphasized the important of our client’s work: “[Client’s] finding that commonly prescribed drugs for patients with diabetes-induced cardiovascular complication may protect the heart offers new avenues for the creation of more effective treatments for this ailment, and as such this work is of paramount importance to the millions of Americans currently suffering from cardiovascular disease.” Through extensive documentation, we were able to successfully argue that our client would serve the national interest to a significantly greater degree than others with similar education and experience. His NIW petition was approved in five months and seventeen days.
