Case Summary:

This time we were given the opportunity to work with a cancer biologist from Taiwan specializing in cutting-edge methods of cancer treatment, such as oncolytic virotherapy. We submitted extensive documentation proving the high significance of her contributions to her field, including her 8 peer-reviewed journal articles as well as 1 book chapter - a body of work that had received 167 citations by the time we filed her case. The great majority of these citations are from independent researchers distributed worldwide, demonstrating the wide reliance upon and recognition of our client’s work in her field. An independent recommender affirmed the importance of her work: “When mice bearing human prostate tumors underwent treatment with [Client’s] microRNA -regulated oncolytic viruses, they experienced an 80% reduction in tumor volume without causing substantial harm to normal tissue. Her project was the first to ever demonstrate this conclusion, indicating [Client’s] skill in producing revolutionary research with widespread benefits.” We successfully demonstrated that our client’s continued employment in the field would benefit the people of the United States as a whole as well as her fellow researchers, and argued that she would serve the national interest to a significantly greater degree than others with similar education and experience. Her NIW petition was approved in seven months and seventeen days.
