On January 8, 2015, We Received EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) Approval (Approval Notice) for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Field of Chemical Engineering
Position at the Time of Case Filing: Postdoctoral Research Associate
Country of Origin: Iran
Service Center: Nebraska Service Center (NSC)
Approval Notice Date: January 8th, 2015
Processing Time: 4 Months, 11 Days
In this case, we were retained by an Iranian postdoctoral researcher whose work focused specifically on the characterization of flow and entrapment processes in rock samples using core-flooding techniques. We successfully demonstrated that his continued employment in the field would benefit those in his field, as well as the citizens of the United States at large. In order for our client’s case to be successful, we submitted extensive documentation proving his highly significant contributions to his field, including 2 peer-reviewed journal articles and numerous conference papers. His publications had been cited at least 60 times at the time we filed the case; nearly all of the citations were by independent researchers around the world, demonstrating that these publications are widely recognized and relied upon in the field. An independent recommender provided a testament to the important of our client’s work: “The sequestration of multiple compounds in conjunction with one another has economic advantages, but the impact of multiple co-contaminants on long-term CO2 trapping is mostly unexplored….[Client’s] work is the first of its kind. …As this type of disposal is much cheaper than having a series of pollution controls the kind of disposal that he has investigated may become the standard method…It would mean savings of many billions of dollars annually for the country for the same amount of pollution avoidance.” Through extensive documentation, we were able to successfully argue that our client would serve the national interest to a significantly greater degree than others with similar education and experience. His NIW petition was approved in four months and eleven days.
