General Field: Biochemistry

State of Residence at the Time of Filing: California
Approval Notice Date: March 29th, 2016
Processing Time: 5 months, 28 days (Premium Processing Requested)
Case Summary:
Exactly five months and three weeks after we filed an EB-1A (Alien of Extraordinary Ability) petition on our client’s behalf, she elected to upgrade her case to be adjudicated under Premium Processing (PP). As the USCIS will take action on PP cases within 15 calendar days, it is a great option for petitioners who are unable or unwilling to wait the usual 4-9 months. Petitioners can request for PP either when the petition is filed, or at any time during the review period. Exactly one week after the upgrade, our client received notification of case approval.
Our meticulous efforts in putting together a strong EB-1A petition packet resulted in excellent results. We built a case that highlighted our client’s 4 publications, the 15 peer reviews she had conducted, and the 149 citations to her work. We also documented her research on developing therapies for reversing diabetes. Using what we learned, we demonstrated to the USCIS that our client is an asset to the nation, and that her research findings have numerous applications such as novel drug targets and therapeutics for improving insulin secretion in diabetics. To make our case even stronger, we encouraged our client to gather several recommendation letters from other experts in the field of biochemistry. She persuaded six specialists to lend their support, all of whom signed recommendation letters that verified the significance of her work. For instance, one of them described our client’s contributions as “…some of the most extraordinary breakthroughs in our field, and because she has become a key figure in her chosen areas of study, I feel that she is now an irreplaceable resource of the United States.”
North America Immigration Law Group (Wegreened.com) would like to thank our client for selecting our law firm to help her get one step closer to her green card. We congratulate her on her EB-1A approval notice, and we wish her well as she partakes in the final step of the green card process: filing an I-485 application.
