Case Summary:

In this case we were offered the opportunity to work with a computer scientist, who had focused specifically on the detection of performance problems, their predictive modeling and performance optimization. As part of our successful strategy for our client’s case, we submitted extensive documentation proving his highly significant contributions to his field, which included 2 peer-reviewed journal articles and 4 peer-reviewed conference papers and presentations.  This work had received at least 27 citations by the time we filed his case, nearly all of which were by independent researchers around the world, demonstrating the wide recognition of and reliance upon our client’s work in his field. We also showed that his continued employment in his field would benefit both his field as a whole and the people of the United States in general. An independent recommender confirmed the importance of his work: “As technology grows increasingly complex, the need for these types of tools become ever more important. Conventional tools had not been automated and required a great deal of knowledge and manual interpretation for the users to benefit from the analysis. [Client] changed this when he introduced his model, which implements micro-benchmarks to identify resource bottlenecks and optimize their performance. The mechanism he designed can automatically identify bottlenecks in various applications…which makes it extremely useful.” We successfully argued that our client would serve the national interest to a significantly greater degree than others with similar education and experience. His NIW petition was approved in 4 months and 9 days.
