Case Summary:

This time we were given the opportunity to work with a computer scientist from Vietnam specializing in algorithm development for 3-D camera image processing. We submitted extensive documentation proving the high significance of his contributions to his field, including his 4 peer-reviewed journal articles, 1 patent and several conference applications - a body of work that had received 60 citations by the time we filed his case. The great majority of these citations are from independent researchers distributed worldwide, demonstrating the wide reliance upon and recognition of our client’s work in his field. An independent recommender affirmed the importance of his work: “[Client’s] successful project is of use to United States consumer technology as well as business. On the one hand, it is a useful consumer product, garnering significant interest for personal and long -distance communications. It is also useful for immersive video conferencing, which is a particularly useful and efficiency- increasing tool for business meetings, as meetings between firms or clients can be done without significant travel costs.” We successfully demonstrated that our client’s continued employment in the field would benefit the people of the United States as a whole as well as his fellow researchers, and argued that he would serve the national interest to a significantly greater degree than others with similar education and experience. His NIW petition was approved in 4 months and 21 days.
