On September 25th, 2017, we received another EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) approval for a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Field of Information Science (Approval Notice).

General Field: Information Science

Position at the Time of Case Filing: Postdoctoral Fellow

Country of Origin: Iran

Approval Notice Date: September 25th, 2017

Processing Time: 11 months, 12 days

Case Summary:

An Iranian postdoctoral fellow hired North America Immigration Law Group (NAILG) to help him get one step closer to a green card. After evaluating his credentials, we determined that he would be a good fit for EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver). With a doctorate in information science and ample experience conducting research in the same field, our client checked the requirements to qualify for the national interest waiver.

We started off by helping our client narrow down a list of potential recommenders. We made sure that the shortlisted candidates were familiar with our client’s one dozen publications and/or had worked with him. We also made sure that these recommenders were renowned in the field of information science. Our client convinced 4 of these experts to support his NIW petition in the form of recommendation letters. This is what one of these recommenders noted about our client: “The evidence presented…shows that his efforts are an asset for US research and development, since they help to improve the scientific knowledge it produces. His professional achievements thus far strongly suggest that he will continue to benefit the nation long into the future.”

Alongside these letters was further evidence of our client’s high standing in the field of information science. For instance, we noted the 241 times his work was cited at the time of filing as well as the 20 times he had assessed the work of his peers. Furthermore, we detailed our client’s work assessing and evaluating the utilization of research throughout the broader scientific community.

Although our client waited close to a year for the USCIS to take action on his petition, we are glad that he finally received notification of case approval. Not long after his NIW was filed, our client filed I-485 applications for himself and his dependents using our DIY Packet. We wish him the best with this and thank him for choosing us to represent his NIW case.
