On March 16th, 2022, we received another EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) approval for a Developer in the Field of Computer Science (Approval Notice).
General Field: Computer Science
Position at the Time of Case Filing: Developer
Country of Origin: Vietnam
State of Residence at the Time of Filing: Texas
Approval Notice Date: March 16th, 2022
Processing Time: 5 months, 3 days
Case Summary:
A developer in the field of computer science, our NIW (National Interest Waiver) client from Vietnam had a proposed endeavor to continue utilizing his expertise in high utility mining, high utility association rules mining, class association rules mining, machine learning, and cloud computing. He wanted to develop efficient data mining algorithms, approaches, and solutions in order to support decision-making and strategic planning in areas such as retail, wholesale, customer support, medicine, and education. Given the wide reach of his proposed research, it was evident to us that his work was of national importance to the United States. This was especially so because his research interests aid in the diagnosis of breast cancer. Such research is highly valuable, as information from the World Health Organization states that about 2.3 million cases of breast cancer were diagnosed around the world in 2020. It was due to this reason that he was able to receive 4 letters of recommendation from other experts in the field. One of which stated:
“[The client’s] work is providing critical tools for the United States and countries around the world. His work has important applications in the business sector as well as implications for public safety…[The client] is creating improved tools for businesses to increase profit margins and meet customer needs. In this respect, [client's] systems for extracting association rules from massive volumes of data are providing the United States with new tools for lowering these accident rates. The far-reaching applicability of [client’s] innovative solutions makes his work immensely valuable to the United States, and [the client] continues to prove himself as a leading researcher in the field of computer science.”
Along with these letters of support were other academic and professional documents showing the worth of our client and his research. This included information such as the following:
- His research has resulted in 3 peer-reviewed journal articles (all of them first-authored) and 2 book chapters.
- These publications have been cited a total of 84 times according to Google Scholar.
- We presented evidence of his major funding source namely the Vietnam National Foundation for Science and Technology Development.
- We showed that due to his knowledge and expertise in computer science, he has been invited to conduct peer reviews for international scientific journals at least 2 times already.
