Client’s Testimonial:
“Thank you very much for your help.”
On March 2nd, 2017, we received another EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) approval for a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Field of Computer Science (Approval Notice).
General Field: Computer Science
Position at the Time of Case Filing: Postdoctoral Scholar
Country of Origin: Vietnam
Service Center: Nebraska Service Center (NSC)
State of Residence at the Time of Filing: California
Approval Notice Date: March 2nd, 2017
Processing Time: 15 months, 12 days
Case Summary:
A California-based postdoctoral scholar hired our firm, North America Immigration Law Group (NAILG), to file an I-140 EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) petition as well as I-485 applications for himself and his dependents. Thanks to our meticulous efforts in presenting our client’s credentials to the USCIS, the I-140 petition and I-485 applications were approved roughly 3 months apart. We congratulate our client and his family for obtaining their green cards and becoming United States permanent residents.
Our client’s journey to obtaining a green card was a lengthy one. In preparing his NIW petition, we took note of his doctoral degree in computer science as well as his impressive publication record and citation count: 18 conference and journal articles which had accrued 131 citations at the time of filing. Moreover, we detailed his impressive research background in computer arithmetic which addresses inconsistencies in computer programs and solves reproducibility problems. It was very evident that our client's research contributes to the United States’ computer software industry and simulation modeling in a number of scientific fields.
In a bid to further fortify the NIW case, we advised our client to gather recommendation letters from other computer science experts. He collected 4 letters, one of which contained this statement:
“[Client] has repeatedly proven himself to be one of the most capable researchers in his field. His accomplishments in reproducibility represent a unique level of insight which has scarcely been matched by any other active computer science researcher.”
Similar words of encouragement from another recommender stated:
“Without his ongoing research, heightening the effectiveness of navigation and control systems, as well as the numerous other systems which rely on advanced interval arithmetic, would become a significantly less attainable goal. Therefore, I state with the utmost confidence, the deepest conviction and the warmest recommendation, that the continuation of [Client's] research is an investment in the future technological advancement of the United States.”
The total time the USCIS spent processing our client's NIW petition was 15 months and 12 days, and nearly 3 months after it was approved, the I-485 applications which we filed for our client and his family were also granted approval. We thank our client for trusting us to help him obtain his green card, and we wish him success as he continues to progress the field of computer science.
