General Field: Computer Science and Engineering Position at the Time of Case Filing: Postdoctoral Research Associate Country of Origin: Pakistan Service Center: Texas Service Center (TSC) State of Residence at the Time of Filing: Tennessee Approval Notice Date: July 18, 2013 Processing Time: 5½ months

Case Summary:

Another exceptional client that Chen Immigration Law Associates had the pleasure of working with was a postdoctoral research associate from Pakistan working in the field of computer science and engineering.  His work had focused specifically in the areas of Future Internet, Wireless Mesh Networks, 6LoWPAN, Sensor Networks, IP Multimedia Subsystems, IPv6, VoIP, distributed computing and network management, with a particular emphasis on Future Internet, security management and IP networks. This client wished to seek continued employment in the field of computer science and engineering. We at Chen Immigration Law Associates demonstrated that his continued employment in the field would not only benefit those in his field, but the citizens of the United States at large. To achieve success in this case, we submitted extensive documentation proving our client’s highly significant contributions to the field of computer science and engineering, including at least 8 peer-reviewed scientific articles in leading journals, 4 book chapters, and the appearance of his work in 11 international conferences. These publications had been cited at least 74 times at the time of case filing.  Given that computer science and engineering has one of the lowest publication and citation rates, this represents an extraordinary level of publication. Of his accomplishments, one of the independent recommenders remarked: “[Client’s] work with wireless mesh networks, which combine qualities of both static and ad hoc networks … is particularly vital to the future of networking.” Through extensive documentation, we at Chen Immigration Law Associates successfully argued that our client would serve the national interest to a significantly greater degree than others with similar education and experience. His NIW application was approved in 5 ½  months.
