Case Summary:

In this case, the client that we had the opportunity to work with was a postdoctoral researcher from China in the field of optoelectronics.  Specifically, our client’s specialized research has focused on wildly tunable high speed semiconductor lasers for purposes of enhancing optical interconnectedness, light ranging, detection, and sensing; wildly tunable photodetectors for purposes of improving optical communications; record low-loss hollow-core waveguides for purposes of monitoring harmful gases; and high-speed optical phased arrays for purposes of improving the efficiency of laser displays, among other products. His work had resulted in at least 25 peer-reviewed scientific articles, one book chapter, and numerous papers and presentations at national and international conferences; at the time that his case was filed, his publications had been cited at least 374 times by independent and leading researchers from prestigious institutions and organizations around the world, indicating the major significance of his work.  He had also reviewed 21 manuscripts for at least 10 distinctive, internationally-circulated journals.  His superior level of expertise was confirmed in the following quote from an independent recommender, “I wish to offer my most sincere recommendation for [client], as he is an accomplished scientist who has made considerable contributions to the fields of optoelectronics and bio-imaging. I myself am an established expert in neuroscience and bio-imaging, having been involved in these fields for many years…I have the pleasure of accompanying [client] during his current research endeavors and have enjoyed reading through his past contributions as well. It is my opinion that [client] is one of the most talented researchers involved in these fields, and I consider him to be among the rare individuals currently leading progress in bio-photonics..” It was our goal to prove that our client qualified for classification as an Alien of Extraordinary Ability given that he sought to remain in the United States to continue work in the area of optoelectronics, and that his continued research would substantially and prospectively benefit the United States. With the proof and documentation that we provided, his case was approved in 29 days.
