Case Summary:

North America Immigration Law Group – WeGreened.com represented a health economist who had constructed a longitudinal database using raw national data elements, while analyzing this database on chronic renal diseases and end-stage renal disease in HIV infected veterans. These renal diseases identified a risk for co-morbidity, while it also demonstrated the importance of monitoring and treating renal and cardiovascular disease in patients with HIV/AIDS. More recently, this client had conducted multi-level assessments of ischemic stroke care in the United States. The aforementioned research had resulted in 24 peer reviewed articles that had been cited 293 times at the time of case filing, clearly demonstrating that researchers in the field of Epidemiology and Health Economics rely on this client’s work. Additionally, the client had been invited to present her research at 4 different international conferences, and had also acted as a peer reviewer for 6 journals, having reviewed 9 papers at the time of filing her case. One independent recommender explained: “[Client’s]  research focuses on epidemiology, which is the study of the various patterns of health in specific populations. By identifying these patterns, researchers can provide information relevant to the development of new medical practice policies, such as better management of previously unknown risk factors and the implementation of preventative medicine where possible. Much of this research requires extensive data collection and analysis, areas in which [Client] has demonstrated remarkable skill, as well as familiarity with current literature available on the specific medical conditions studied and knowledge of common drug dosages, interactions, and side effects. These broad proficiencies have enabled [Client] to complete some of the most groundbreaking research available today on the relationships between diseases of the kidneys and cardiovascular system and HIV/AIDS.” This EB-1A (Alien of Extraordinary Ability) petition received approval on February 28, 2014.
