Success Stories: EB1-A Approval Received Soon After NIW Approval for an Assistant Research Scientist in Remote Sensing from China, Thanks to Our Excellent Team of Experts at NAILG

Client’s Testimonial:

“It was a pleasure working with you…Thank you also for your professional help.”

On April 2nd, 2022 and July 26th, 2022, we received another EB2-NIW (National Interest Waiver) and EB-1A (Alien of Extraordinary Ability) approval for an Assistant Research Scientist in the Field of Remote Sensing (Approval Notice).

General Field: Remote Sensing

Position at the Time of Case Filing: Assistant Research Scientist

Country of Origin: China

State of Residence at the Time of Filing: Maryland

Approval Notice Date: April 2nd, 2022 (NIW) and July 26th, 2022 (EB-1A)

Processing Time: 2 months, 20 days (NIW) and 4 months, 28 days (EB-1A) (Premium Processing Requested)

Case Summary:

Our NIW (National Interest Waiver) client from China was an assistant research scientist in remote sensing. She was one of the few leading remote sensor calibrations, validation, monitoring, and atmospheric radiative transfer experts in the area. She had achieved a consistent and notable record of success and influence in these areas of study. She was especially well-known for the calibration of nighttime sensor data to resultantly model population density and the dynamics of global electricity consumption with high accuracy. With our effective case preparation strategy, we secured her NIW status less than 3 months after filing. So as soon as we had her NIW approval, she retained our services for her EB1-A (Alien of Extraordinary Ability) petition, for which we used revised information collected from her academic and professional documents. Our team helped her obtain the EB1-A approval despite the initial delay.

Our team made a note of the following things from her documents:

  • The field has recognized her authority by inviting her to review and evaluate the work of her peers no fewer than 34 times. These reviews were for well-known national and international magazines in her field.
  • On the other hand, she has actively engaged her peers in remote sensing by authoring and co-authoring 22 peer-reviewed journal articles, 6 conference papers, and 5 patents published in international journals. This active participation in publishing though a relatively common activity, when coupled with other facts such as her continuous scientific output, went a long way in proving her extraordinary significance for the United States of America.
  • This is why she also received 4 letters of recommendation supporting her work in the field. One of which had the following statement in it:

“[The client] is a leading contributor to the field of remote sensing whose background has prepared her to pursue innovative research in the field. [The client’s] capabilities match those of some of the world’s most prominent scientists and researchers, and thus the need for her work to continue uninterrupted in the United States is vital for her field as a whole.”

  • We also presented other facts such as that she is one of the top 1% of most highly cited authors publishing on topics in Geology over the past ten years according to Microsoft Academic. In fact, her publications have been cited by researchers for 333 times in at least 32 countries according to Google Scholar.
  • Her study has been supported by funding as well from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the U.S. Geological Survey, the National High Technology Research and Development Program of China, the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission. Such a large number of funding sources indicate that her work was and continues to be of value to the global community.

Another one of her recommenders wrote:

“[The client’s] research on various calibration methods for remote sensing instruments and satellites has provided her field with methods to improve the efficiency and tracking of these instruments with a low-cost and timely approach. [The client’s] research ensures that these remote sensing satellites provide stable and highly accurate remote sensing data via low-cost calibration methods, thus making her work inherently valuable to the United States scientific community, economy, and military.”

Thus, these data sets proved that her work was invaluable and extraordinary and should be supported by the United States. This helped the NIW and EB1-A adjudication process become even more accessible. We thank our client for her trust in us and we wish her all the best in her future endeavors.
