Success Stories: NIW Petition Approved in 43 Days for Postdoctoral Researcher in Arkansas in the Field of Environmental Engineering

Client’s Testimonial:

“Great news!!!! I was so pleasantly surprised. It happened real fast. Thank you for all your efforts.”

On September 15th, 2016, we received another EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) approval for a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Field of Environmental Engineering (Approval Notice).

General Field: Environmental Engineering

Position at the Time of Case Filing: Postdoctoral Researcher

Country of Origin: Nepal

Service Center: Texas Service Center (TSC)

State of Residence at the Time of Filing: Arkansas

Approval Notice Date: September 15th, 2016

Processing Time: 43 Days

Case Summary:

Our client’s Ph.D. in Biosystems Engineering and Environmental Engineering assured us that he has the theoretical and practical knowledge to conduct outstanding research in the field of environmental engineering. Even so, we carefully evaluated the rest of his credentials to be sure that he was a good candidate for the national interest waiver. Once we determined that he was, we compiled as much relevant information as we could to build a strong EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) case for him.

What did we highlight?

Because we had to prove to the USCIS that our client’s work is of national importance, we detailed his work on developing novel plant based technology to prevent or mitigate water pollution from non-point source contaminants as well as improving sustainable agricultural practices that increase water quality. We concluded that his research results have directly contributed to the United States’ agricultural industry as well as public and ecosystem health. Additionally, his application of specific plants to remove pollutants and nitrates from soil and water systems improves our understanding of effective phytoremediation strategies to mitigate water pollution.

We also noted our client’s 4 peer-reviewed journal articles, 1 first-authored conference proceeding article, 4 technical reports, and the 52 citations gathered from his work. As further evidence that our client is a force to be reckoned with, we detailed the 14 times he was invited to judge the work of his peers. We also incorporated six recommendation letters that strongly advocated for the approval of his NIW petition. These letters were volunteered by other influential members of the field, one of whom stated that “Considering that ecosystem contamination in the United States is increasing at an alarming rate, leading researchers on the topic, such as [Client], should certainly be retained within the nation.”

Obtaining petition approval:

To our delight, the USCIS only spent 43 days adjudicating our client’s case before granting their approval. We congratulate our client for coming this far in the green card process, and we thank him for trusting North America Immigration Law Group (NAILG) to help him get here.
