Case Summary:
A gifted cardiology fellow from India approached North America Immigration Law Group (WeGreened.com) to help him file an EB-1A (Alien of Extraordinary Ability) petition. A thorough analysis of our client’s credentials confirmed what we initially presumed: that his I-140 petition should be filed under EB-1A.
How did we come to this conclusion? Our extensive experience putting together winning EB-1A petitions has taught us that petitioners need to meet at least 3 out of the 10 requirements set by the USCIS. In this case, we established that our client was an expert at judging the work of others, that he had an impressive publication record, and that he was significantly contributing to the field of cardiology. Proving these points may not have been easy but we made it happen in an efficient and timely manner. Using thank you letters from journal editors, we determined that our client had conducted 7 peer reviews for a handful of scientific journals and that he had published 15 peer-reviewed scientific articles and 16 abstracts. Thanks to Google Scholar and other relevant sources such as Scopus, we were also able to determine that his work had collected a whopping 11,563 citations at the time of filing, proving without a shadow of a doubt that he is a significant contributor to the field.
Listing our client’s accomplishments was not enough to obtain an EB-1A petition approval. We needed other members of the medical community to support our case. We helped our client narrow down a list of potential recommenders who would be likely to sign recommendation letters. The four shortlisted candidates were composed of dependent and independent experts in the field, all of whom confirmed the value of our client’s research on the epidemiology of cardiovascular disease—the leading cause of morbidity and mortality throughout the world. Here is what a couple of them had to say about our client:
- “[Client’s] steady stream of major achievements in cardiovascular health and diabetes has propelled him to the forefront of a very fast-paced and competitive field, and it is clear to me that [Client] will continue to produce such breakthroughs for many years to come.”
- “Only a select handful of fellow researchers in this field can boast similar records of success and acclaim, and thus [Client’s] work continues to be in high demand throughout the academic sphere.”
