Quantum computing has tremendous potential, but its progress depends on more than building powerful machines. The field also needs algorithms and error-reduction strategies that can work with the limitations of near-term quantum hardware. This was the core challenge behind a recent EB-2 National Interest Waiver (NIW) approval secured for a postdoctoral scholar in quantum information science from South Korea.
