Case Summary:

In this case, North America Immigration Law Group was given the opportunity to work with an electrical engineer from Nepal whose research was particularly focused on power electronics, with topics including the design and optimization of solid state transformers, AC-DC power converters, and energy-efficient systems with minimal electric noise interference. We showed that his continued employment in his field would benefit both his field in particular and the populace of the United States as a whole. His work had been published in 2 peer-reviewed journal articles as well as 18 conference papers. At the time we filed his case, these publications had received no fewer than 143 citations from independent researchers around the world, a strong testament to the wide reliance upon this research in the field as well as the broad recognition it has received. An independent recommender emphasized the importance of our client’s work: “Improvement of motor drives is extremely beneficial for maximizing product quality of numerous technologies, and thereby increases the revenue associated with all of the corresponding industries. Development of novel control algorithms are essential in the precision control of robotics, as well as in devices involved with high density data storage, fiber fabrication, and optical mounting. I cannot overstate the importance and quality of [Client’s] research on high precision control of ultrasonic motors.” Through extensive documentation, we were able to successfully argue that our client would serve the national interest to a significantly greater degree than others with similar education and experience. His NIW petition was approved in six months and sixteen days.
