Case Summary:

In this case we were offered the opportunity to work with a statistician from Hong Kong, who had focused specifically on the relationship between specific traits and tumor growth, the way these traits affect survivability, and the characteristics that influence the choice of information sources, such as the Internet versus the newspaper, and the use of alternative medications. As part of our successful strategy for our client’s case, we submitted extensive documentation proving his highly significant contributions to his field, which included 11 peer-reviewed journal and conference articles and 4 conference presentations.  This work had received at least 14 citations by the time we filed his case, nearly all of which were by independent researchers around the world, demonstrating the wide recognition of and reliance upon our client’s work in his field. We also showed that his continued employment in his field would benefit both his field as a whole and the people of the United States in general. An independent recommender confirmed the importance of his work: “[Client’s] research on the correlation between information overload concerning obesity (the conflation of physician advice, media coverage testimonials for fad diets, and so forth) the impact on health behavior is seminal. By identifying the factors that are most influential in achieving specific behavioral changes, he has opened a door that will allow researchers to develop efficient and effective information resources.” We successfully argued that our client would serve the national interest to a significantly greater degree than others with similar education and experience. His NIW petition was approved in 8 months and 20 days (including RFE Response Time).
