Success Stories: O1-A Approval for a Research Scientist from India in the Field of Aerospace Engineering despite RFE

Client’s Testimonial:

“Thank you very much for all your efforts.”

On August 8th, 2018, we received another O1-A (Individuals with Extraordinary Ability or Achievement) approval for a Research Scientist in the Field of Aerospace Engineering (Approval Notice).

General Field: Aerospace Engineering

Position at the Time of Case Filing: Research Scientist

Country of Origin: India

State of Residence at the Time of Filing: Maryland

Approval Notice Date: August 8th, 2018

Processing Time: 5 months, 19 days (Premium Processing Requested)

Case Summary:

According to the USCIS, “To qualify for an O-1 visa, the beneficiary must demonstrate extraordinary ability by sustained national or international acclaim and must be coming temporarily to the United States to continue work in the area of extraordinary ability.” We made sure that our client met the criteria by carefully evaluating his background, field of expertise, and various achievements in the field of aerospace engineering. Once we confirmed that he was a good candidate for O1-A, we gathered a wealth of information pertaining to his accomplishments as a research scientist and started building a solid case.

Not only does our client have a doctorate in aerospace engineering, he also boasts extensive experience conducting impactful research in the field. His work has led to the publication of one book chapter, five peer-reviewed journal articles, and eight peer-reviewed conference articles, which have collectively been cited 111 times. Further, our client has assessed the work of his peers 17 times, demonstrating his respected status in the field.

As part of our services, we also carefully reviewed and detailed our client’s research on the development of applications such as producing high-fidelity models for fluid flows. Based on what we learned, we concluded that his research addresses some of the United States’ most important issues related to fluid flow phenomena, as well as offering possible solutions to frequently occurring problems in marine vehicles by developing improved vessel design and increased durability. To further strengthen his O1-A case, we also incorporated 5 recommendation letters into his petition dossier. According to one of the recommenders: ”[Client]’s academic peers throughout the field regularly make use of his methods or findings in their own work, which shows that he has positively driven his field of expertise throughout the course of his career.”

Although the USCIS issued a Request for Evidence (RFE), our team effectively and efficiently responded to it. As we successfully dealt with all hesitations about our client’s credentials and qualifications, he received notification of case approval not long after. We congratulate our client for securing O1-A petition and we wish him the best as he continues to advance the important field of aerospace engineering.
