The client that North America Immigration Law Group had the opportunity to work in this case was a cardiology fellow from India. Her work had focused specifically on sudden cardiac death from ventricular arrhythmias, inpatient stress testing, and decompensated congestive cardiac failure. We successfully demonstrated that her continued employment in the field would benefit those in her field, as well as the citizens of the United States at large. In order for our client’s case to be successful, we submitted extensive documentation proving her highly significant contributions to her field, including 11 peer-reviewed journal articles and numerous conference papers. Her publications had been cited at least 69 times at the time we filed the case; nearly all of the citations were by independent researchers around the world, demonstrating that these publications are widely recognized and relied upon in the field. The importance of her work was confirmed in the following quote from an independent recommender: ““She demonstrated that in patients who are at low risk for having a heart attack, doing a stress test does not appear to be economically justified. In the era of rising health care costs, this is an extremely important observation. [Client’s] work can be considered highly influential and important to both the physicians and patients as the results of her work challenge our current routine clinical practice of doing stress tests on most patients admitted with chest pain despite having a low risk of having acute coronary event.” Through extensive documentation, we were able to successfully argue that our client would serve the national interest to a significantly greater degree than others with similar education and experience. Her NIW petition was approved in 8 months and 9 days.
