For this EB-2 NIW case, we worked extensively with a Chief Cardiology Fellow in the field of Cardiology. Her work has focused specifically on cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and clinical research in cardiology. The success of her research has resulted in advanced imaging techniques that can be used to diagnose various cardiac disorders. These improvements have reduced imaging time and—more significantly—the cost of cardiac MRI. Furthermore, her studies on disordered breathing and ventilatory failure have elucidated a greater understanding of obstructive sleep apnea, which plagues a widespread population in the United States. Her work has culminated in 9 peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts published in leading journals and numerous presentations at national and international conferences. At the time of filing her case, her publications had been cited at least 70 times by leading researchers around the world, exemplifying the major significance of her work. The importance of her work was validated by an independent recommender, who stated, “Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death within the United States, causing about one death every 33 seconds and around 1 million per year. Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging is a modality of imaging that is fast becoming an essential tool in the diagnosis and management of various cardiovascular problems. However, current techniques…make the test lengthy, expensive…and uncomfortable for the patient. [Client’s] research is groundbreaking in this regard—a new, much faster and cost-saving technique which will be much more comfortable and tolerable for patients.”We were able to prove that our client’s unique contributions to healthcare would serve the national interest to a significantly greater degree than others with similar education and experience. With the extensive and thorough documentation that we provided, we were met with success when her NIW petition was approved in 4 months and 27 days.
