Case Summary:

In this case we were pleased to represent a research scientist from Pakistan working on the development of community-based intervention packages addressing public health issues such as typhoid, infant mortality, and malnutrition in a number of countries. We proved the high significance of his work to the field through submitting extensive documentation, including proof that his 13 peer-reviewed articles and 7 other publications describe work that is widely recognized and relied upon in the field, as indicated by the 227 citations they had received, primarily from independent researchers internationally. An independent recommender testified to the importance of his work: “This study is ground breaking, for, again, it is the first study that demonstrated that not only can newborn health inventions be successfully integrated into the existing health structures and public health practices, but that they are also effective.” We set out to demonstrate that our client should be permitted to come to the United States to work in his field, as he would serve the national interest to a significantly greater degree than others with similar education and experience, and that his employment would benefit his field and the people of the United States as a whole. His petition was approved in seven months and eleven days.
