The client that North America Immigration Law Group had the opportunity to work in this case was a biomedical researcher from Taiwan. His work had focused specifically on the protein-protein interactions and signaling pathways associated with the cellular immortalization and transformation implicated in HPV E6 protein-associated cervical cancer. We successfully demonstrated that his continued employment in the field would benefit those in his field, as well as the citizens of the United States at large. In order for our client’s case to be successful, we submitted extensive documentation proving his highly significant contributions to his field, including 4 peer-reviewed journal articles and numerous conference papers. His publications had been cited at least 42 times at the time we filed the case; nearly all of the citations were by independent researchers around the world, demonstrating that these publications are widely recognized and relied upon in the field. The importance of his work was confirmed in the following quote from an independent recommender: “While surgical treatment can often be employed in an attempt to treat cervical cancer, HPV- induced cancers often return. [Client’s] research has directly focused on the issues raised by HPV that make cervical cancer so difficult to treat…Such a discovery is impactful because it shows the ability of small molecules to intercede in apoptosis- compromising interactions and consequently opens the door for previously unsuccessful treatments to be reconsidered.” Through extensive documentation, we were able to successfully argue that our client would serve the national interest to a significantly greater degree than others with similar education and experience. His NIW petition was approved in 4 months and 11 days.
