Case Summary:

In this case we were offered the opportunity to work with a Chinese biologist, who had focused specifically on two topics: understanding how small rodent animals survive hibernation with implications for developing possible therapeutic strategies for human diseases, and developing therapeutic strategies for human Alzheimer’s disease. As part of our successful strategy for our client’s case, we submitted extensive documentation proving her highly significant contributions to her field, which included 6 peer-reviewed journal articles, 3 book chapters, and numerous conference papers and presentations.  This work had received at least 18 citations by the time we filed her case, nearly all of which were by independent researchers around the world, demonstrating the wide recognition of and reliance upon our client’s work in her field. We also showed that her continued employment in his field would benefit both her field as a whole and the people of the United States in general. An independent recommender confirmed the importance of her work: “Her work is making a difference in the way we study and understand biological concepts related to mammalian hibernation. Her innovative doctoral studies have many potential medical applications. Her studies are also helping to advance the healthcare industry from the bottom up, revolutionizing techniques and methods for developing novel human disease therapies.” We successfully argued that our client would serve the national interest to a significantly greater degree than others with similar education and experience. Her NIW petition was approved in 4 months and 15 days.
