In this case, North America Immigration Law Group was given the opportunity to work with a biomedical engineer from Thailand whose research was particularly focused on developing and applying non-linear optical microscopy methods to directly observe and study intercommunications between neurons and blood vessels. We showed that her continued employment in her field would benefit both her field in particular and the populace of the United States as a whole. Her work had been published in 3 peer-reviewed journal articles as well as being presented at numerous conferences. At the time we filed her case, these publications had received no fewer than 40 citations from independent researchers around the world, a strong testament to the wide reliance upon this research in the field as well as the broad recognition it has received. An independent recommender emphasized the importance of our client’s work: “The prevalence of heart disease and valve-related failure has prompted [client] to investigate advances to aid in the creation of better heart valve replacements…[client] has shown how forces affect the alignment of collagen alignment, crucial knowledge for manipulating and creating replacements for cardiac valve tissues. With key components to creating valves that are neither subject to frequent replacement nor intensive drug therapy now illuminated, the realm of medicine has seen the beginning of a revolution to heart disease treatment” Through extensive documentation, we were able to successfully argue that our client would serve the national interest to a significantly greater degree than others with similar education and experience. Her NIW petition was approved in 7 months and 5 days.
