Case Summary:

In this case, North America Immigration Law Group was given the opportunity to work with a particle physicist from Armenia whose research was particularly focused on neutrino oscillations, searches for sterile neutrinos, missing and weakly established nucleon resonances, and induced Λ polarization in photo- and electroproduction. We showed that her continued employment in her field would benefit both her field in particular and the populace of the United States as a whole. Her work had been published in 52 peer-reviewed journal articles as well as being presented at numerous conferences. At the time we filed her case, these publications had received no fewer than 1,183 citations from independent researchers around the world, a strong testament to the wide reliance upon this research in the field as well as the broad recognition it has received. An independent recommender emphasized the importance of our client’s work: “The results of [Client’s] work will be able to confirm or reject the existence of weakly established or missing N* resonances, a finding which will indisputably contribute to better understanding of the field. In objective evaluation, the career and achievements of an accomplished research scientist are hard to sum up because her works tend to broadly influence the scientific community as a whole. In this respect, [Client’s] contributions to science have implications not only for the particle physics community but also for numerous technologies and industries, and thus the U.S. economy, because it is so foundational.” Through extensive documentation, we were able to successfully argue that our client would serve the national interest to a significantly greater degree than others with similar education and experience. Her NIW petition was approved in 5 months and 11 days.
