In this case, North America Immigration Law Group had the opportunity to work with an Iranian postdoctoral researcher whose work focused specifically on employing nanotechnology in renewable energy and biomedical applications. We submitted extensive evidence of his highly significant contributions to his field, including 10 peer-reviewed journal articles in top journals, 1 book, 2 encyclopedia chapters, and 1 pending patent. His publications had received no fewer than 77 citations at the time we filed his case, nearly all of which came from researchers around the world without any personal connection to our client, demonstrating that his work is widely recognized and relied upon in the field. We successfully demonstrated that his continued employment in the field would benefit both those in his field and the populace of the United States as a whole. An independent recommender attested to the importance of our client’s work: “The superparamagnetic nanoparticles which [Client] synthesized were also employed for immobilization of lipase in the production of biofuels. The immobilized lipase was used as a catalyst in the transesterification of waste cooking oil. …. In this work, [Client] has provided an easy and efficient way of converting waste cooking oil to valuable biofuel. The recycling of waste oil not only decreases the environmental impact of waste oil but also results in a renewable approach for the production of biofuel to replace natural gas consumption.” Through extensive documentation, we were able to successfully argue that our client would serve the national interest to a significantly greater degree than others with similar education and experience, and his NIW petition was approved in four months and ten days.
