Case Summary:

For this EB-2 NIW case, we worked closely with a Postdoctoral Researcher in the field of Food Science. In his research endeavors, our client has developed novel nanoemulsions and lipid technology, which have great implications for food production and public health. The mass production of food has caused a decrease in nutritional quality and an increase in dietary fats, putting consumers at a high risk for obesity. Our client has characterized alternative lipid sources for emulsification into food and beverage products to create functional foods. His work has made great strides towards improving the nutritional benefits of processed foods, which has ramifications for the food processing industry as well as public health. The importance of his work to the national interest was endorsed by an independent recommender, who stated, “While I am certain that the trajectory of [Client’s] career will reflect his past record of accomplishments regardless of where he conducts his research, the United States would be wise to retain his expertise. With the emergence of a global economy and the rise of strong international competitors, it is essential, should the United States wish to maintain its competitive edge in food technology, to invest its resources in the development of improved emulsion technology.”His cutting-edge research has culminated in a filed patent, the authorship of numerous conference proceedings, and 10 peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts that were published in the top journals of his field. These publications have been cited 32 times by independent researchers worldwide, and the demand for his research has resulted in numerous invitations to present his work at highly distinguished international conferences, demonstrating the global recognition of his endeavors. Our client’s work has benefited the health of the American public and the American economy through the invention of important food science techniques, discovering improved emulsion technology to deliver bioactive food components. With the extensive and thorough documentation that we provided, we were able to prove that our client’s technological advancements and continued research have substantial merits for our country and the scientific community as a whole, thus he has served the nation to a significantly greater degree than that of others with similar education and experience. We were met with success when his NIW petition was approved in 8 months and 15 days.
