Case Summary:
For this EB-2 NIW case, we worked closely with a Research Scientist in the field of Molecular Biology. In his research endeavors, our client studies non-canonical DNA sequences that are associated with many pathologies, and he has developed new therapeutic targets particularly for the treatment of cancer. His research is critical to the development of new drug pathways, which has profound applications for the prophylaxis of malignant tumors. The importance of his work to the national interest was endorsed by an independent recommender, who stated, “Before [Client’s] study, there were several controversial observations… [Client] was able to unfold the nanostructures of a human telomeric DNA fragment along three separate trajectories… [Client] was able to end the controversy by discovering that both parallel G-quadruplexes coexist in crowded buffers. This knowledge is essential for the identification of drug targets for therapeutic approaches to cancer therapy… Cancer is an extreme public health concern that affects millions of Americans every day. [Client’s] work toward developing medications to combat cancer is extremely important to this fight.” His cutting-edge research has culminated in authorship of 1 book chapter, 10 peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts that were published in the top journals of his field, and numerous conference proceedings. These publications have been cited 147 times by independent researchers worldwide, and the demand for his research has resulted in numerous invitations to present his work at highly distinguished international conferences, demonstrating the global recognition of his endeavors. Additionally, our client has been enlisted to participate in a confidential project funded by the Department of Defense that involves the development nanodevices for the United States Army. Along with providing therapeutic strategies for the millions of sufferers of cancer and diabetes worldwide, our client’s work has directly contributed to the safety of U.S. soldiers. With the extensive and thorough documentation that we provided, we were able to prove that our client’s technological advancements and continued research have substantial merits for our country and the scientific community as a whole, thus he has served the nation to a significantly greater degree than that of others with similar education and experience. We were met with success when his NIW petition was approved in 4 months and 7 days.
