Success Stories: An Assistant Professor of Economics from Egypt Expedites Her NIW Approval Journey With Premium Processing Upgrade and Our Teamwork

Client’s Testimonial:

“I just wanted to say thank you so much for your help with this.”

On February 15th, 2023, we received another EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) approval for an Assistant Professor in the Field of Economics (Approval Notice).

General Field: Economics

Position at the Time of Case Filing: Assistant Professor

State of Residence at the Time of Filing: New York

Approval Notice Date: February 15th, 2023

Processing Time: 1 month, 18 days (Premium Processing Requested)

Case Summary:

Whenever we get any immigrant or nonimmigrant visa request from a client, we make sure that the client is aware of the requirements of the category and then we begin collecting information from her documents once the retainer has been signed. So when a client from Egypt wanted our help with her EB2-NIW(National Interest Waiver) petition, we took the same route to her success. Our team having explained the details of the case to her began collecting the following data for her petition:

  • We discovered that she was an assistant professor of economics and held a Ph.D. in the area at the time.
  • We found that as an expert her proposed endeavor was to work on her research in the development and application of novel analytical tools to study large administrative datasets and alternative real-time data sources to measure inequality and labor market developments in near real-time in order to inform government macroeconomic and redistribution policies.
  • Her research endeavor was of great importance because it is directed toward incorporating real-time economic indicators into both “nowcasting” (i.e., snapshots of present economic activity) and forecasting trends.
  • This endeavor also had broad implications for the United States where according to the Washington Center for Equitable Growth, more frequent and timely release of disaggregated economic data would improve both economic forecasting and public policy-making. Her work was also of great value to private sector decision-makers in all areas of the U.S. economy, as well as to elected officials and government policy-makers. More (and more timely) data is of value to economists in fast-moving moments of crisis, and “will prove just as interesting in normal economic circumstances.”
  • Due to its clear national value, her research was supported with funding from the Washington Center for Equitable Growth.
  • Not only had she completed 6 reviews to date, but her research had also resulted in 5 peer-reviewed journal articles (all of them first-authored). At the same time, her publications had been cited a total of 19 times according to Google Scholar.
  • This is why she also got 4 letters of recommendation from experts corroborating the worth of her work for the U.S.

All of these factors along with the fact that she has pursued research directly related to her proposed endeavor of studying large administrative datasets and real-time data for 5 years helped her get the approval without an RFE. The premium processing upgrade also helped her in the approval process. We are glad that she could get the approval in just 8 days of her premium processing filing.

Our firm thanks her for choosing us and wishes her the best for her future.
