Case Summary:

North America Immigration Law Group specializes in assisting EB2-NIW (National Interest Waiver) clients to get their approvals quickly by effective case preparation and filing. This is how we aided an Iranian client who was working in electrical and computer engineering at the time. As a postdoctoral scholar who had an M.Sc. in the subject, he had been working to develop state-of-the-art networks and models for a wide range of applications. Some of its uses included power-optimized wireless sensor monitoring systems, high-speed and secure point-to-point communication protocols, healthcare uses such as cardiac magnetic resonance image segmentation and blood pressure estimation, and technological utilizations such as spam detection and image recognition.

Since the USCIS wants its I-140 NIW clients to prove via their petitions the value of the endeavor they are proposing to take up, our team knew exactly what to do. The next step for us after signing the retainer was to make an exhaustive list of items that would help in proving the worth of the client for the country. Some of the information that we factored in are:

  • Details of his proposed endeavor showing its relevance to the scientific community here in the U.S.
  • Value of his work in general and for the U.S.: We said that his research endeavor is of great importance because it proposed adjustments to communication systems and artificial intelligence technologies that support the broadening of the applications of such technologies into many sectors, including healthcare. He is a top-tier scholar working to expand deep learning models to implement artificial intelligence technologies into healthcare to support global public health. More specifically, his proposed endeavor also has broad implications for the United States as the nation continues to increasingly rely on complex artificial intelligence technologies, the energy necessary to train such systems rises.
  • Funding information: Due to the evident national importance of his research, it has also been supported with funding from the National Science Foundation and the American Heart Association.
Publication, Citation, and Peer Reviews: We showed that he has completed at least 40 reviews to date, and given that only the most highly esteemed researchers in the field are invited to evaluate the work of their peers, especially in notable venues like these, it is clear that he is seen as very knowledgeable in the field and an expert in topics related to his proposed endeavor. Additionally, his work in the area has resulted in 3 peer-reviewed conference papers (2 of them first-authored) and 5 peer-reviewed journal articles (3 of them first-authored). These publications have been cited 99 times according to Google Scholar.
  • Letters of Support: We also asked him to gather at least 4 letters of support recommending his work. One of these letters had the following passage:

“[The client] conducted research that built upon previous state-of-the-art methods and the current literature in order to produce a deep-learning model that provides automated segmentation of a cardiac magnetic resonance image. His model not only provides higher accuracy and scalability than conventional methods, but it is also able to perform artificial intelligence imaging of the hearts of patients with congenital heart diseases, which is of vital importance to cardiologists.”

Moreover, we found that he has pursued research directly related to his proposed endeavor of developing state-of-the-art networks and models for a wide range of applications for 6 years. This has given him all the necessary expertise he needed to continue working in his chosen area of study.

So, when his approval came through, we knew the adjudicating committee had seen the merits of his case. We are grateful to him for choosing us to represent him in this case, and we wish him all the best in his future endeavors.
