Success Stories: NIW Case was Approved for a Lebanese Postdoctoral Research Associate in Environmental Engineering, Thanks to Our Team at North America Immigration

Client’s Testimonial:

“Thank you for your support during this journey!”

On October 3rd, 2022, we received another EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) approval for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Field of Environmental Engineering (Approval Notice).

General Field: Environmental Engineering

Position at the Time of Case Filing: Postdoctoral Research Associate

Country of Origin: Lebanon

State of Residence at the Time of Filing: Washington

Approval Notice Date: October 3rd, 2022

Processing Time: 12 months, 4 days (Premium Processing Requested)

Case Summary:

The following are the factors that played an essential role in getting our French and Lebanese client his NIW (National Interest Waiver) approval:

  • As an expert in the field of environmental science, his proposed endeavor was to address uncertainties related to aerosol emission, chemical composition, size, and evolution in the atmosphere using his expertise in state-of-the-art mass spectrometry measurement techniques, statistical analysis of large datasets, and modeling the optical properties of aerosols in order to improve the changes in the physical and chemical properties of aerosols after their emission into the atmosphere and constrain regional aerosol impacts on air quality and climate.
  • His research advancing his proposed endeavor was of great importance because it aims to reduce the negative health effects of aerosol pollution, also known as particulate matter, in the air. Exposure to particulate matter has been linked to a variety of negative health conditions, including heart attacks, irregular heartbeat, aggravated asthma, decreased lung function, and premature death in people with heart disease or lung disease.
  • His research evaluating the impacts of particulate matter emission sources and discerning ways to mitigate particulate matter’s harmful properties, therefore, helps address a global health crisis that endangers the vast majority of the world’s population.
  • His proposed endeavor also had broad implications for the United States since 150 million Americans live in counties where air pollution has reached unhealthy levels. That equates to roughly half of the entire American population (45.8%).
  • Due to its clear national importance, his research has in fact been supported with funding from the United States Department of Energy’s Atmospheric System Research (ASR) Program, the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), and the National Science Foundation (NSF).
  • He has been regularly invited to conduct peer reviews for authoritative journals in the field and has completed at least 19 reviews.
  • His research has resulted in 17 peer-reviewed journal articles (6 of them first-authored) which have been cited a total of 519 times according to Google Scholar.
  • He has pursued research directly related to his proposed endeavor of addressing uncertainties related to aerosol emission, chemical composition, size, and evolution in the atmosphere for 7 years.
  • He has 2 letters of recommendation from experts who found his work of interest to the country.

All of this evidence was used in writing his proposal which then was sent for adjudication. It was in the 11th month after filing, that our client decided to upgrade his case to premium processing. This helped speed up the process and got him the approval only 7 days later.

Our team is happy to have been of assistance to him in the process and we wish him the best in his future endeavors.
