“Thank you! Great news! And thanks for all your help!”
On August 2nd, 2017, we received another EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) approval for a Postdoctoral researcher in the Field of Astrophysics (Approval Notice).
General Field: Astrophysics
Position at the Time of Case Filing: Postdoctoral Researcher

Service Center: Nebraska Service Center (NSC)
State of Residence at the Time of Filing: California
Approval Notice Date: August 2nd, 2017
Processing Time: 12 months, 10 days
Case Summary:
A postdoctoral researcher in the field of astrophysics hired the team at North America Immigration Law Group (NAILG) to represent her in an EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) case. After evaluating her credentials, our team concluded that she was a suitable candidate for the national interest waiver.
Over the years, our client has displayed a deep understanding of active galactic nuclei and intracluster medium. Her research has directly contributed to the scientific understanding of how the largest objects in our Universe evolve, what physical processes are responsible for this evolution, and how different components of galaxy clusters interact. We proved the value of her research to the US by describing the various research projects that she has conducted, all of which have resulted in 31 peer-reviewed journal articles and conference articles (10 of them first-authored) and 1 book chapter (also first-authored). This is an incredible achievement, further amplified when taking into account the 671 citations that these publications have amassed.
In addition to the above information, we also included several letters of recommendation written in support of our client’s continued stay in the country. The following two statements were extracted from a couple of these letters:
“[Client] has clearly solidified her position at the forefront of the field, and I strongly believe that her departure from the U.S. would be a major disadvantage for the scientific community in that country.”
“In addition to benefitting the field, [Client]’s findings have enormous benefits in other fields. […] Her research enriches our understanding of the most fundamental processes in our Universe, and her contributions support the United States’ position as the world leader in astrophysics and space exploration.
After spending months carefully preparing our client’s NIW petition packet, our hard work paid off after we received notification of case approval. Although it took the USCIS over a year to process our client’s case (it usually takes them between 4-9 months), we are pleased that our client overcame this significant hurdle in the green card process. We congratulate her on this win and thank her for working with us.
