Success Stories: NIW Win for a Lead Electromagnetic Design Engineer in Electrical Engineering, Credit Goes to Our Team at NAILG

Client’s Testimonial:

“Thank you so much for helping me to file my NIW application.”

On August 1st, 2022, we received another EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) approval for a Lead Electromagnetic Design Engineer in the Field of Electrical Engineering (Approval Notice).

General Field: Electrical Engineering

Position at the Time of Case Filing: Lead Electromagnetic Design Engineer

Country of Origin: China

State of Residence at the Time of Filing: Michigan

Approval Notice Date: August 1st, 2022

Processing Time: 15 months, 17 days

Case Summary:

“One of the first applications of [the client’s] work is developing improved electric vehicle traction motors. [Client’s] work toward improving these electric motors is contributing to the transition from an oil-based transportation system to a system built on sustainable sources. [The client] is therefore among the foremost researchers tackling one of the most significant challenges facing the world today.”

“The United States has already benefited from the fruits of [the client’s] labors, and his current course of research is likewise beneficial to American interests. His current investigation into topological optimization of the electric machine design is supportive of the United States’ national goals to continue cutting greenhouse gas emissions from fossil fuels.”

These are words of praise written for a client of ours who had approached NAILG for his NIW (National Interest Waiver) case. They are sections taken from letters of recommendation written for him. As an expert in the field of electrical engineering, his proposed endeavor was to work on his extensive experience with the magneto-structural topology optimization of electric machines to improve their efficiency and power density in order to design and optimize electric machines used for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning. Among other applications, his research is also relevant to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and combating climate change.

So, it soon became evident that his research is of great importance because it improves the efficiency and power density of electric machines, including electric motors and heating, air conditioning, and ventilation systems. This work, especially related to electric motors, is urgently needed to halt climate change and reverse its effects. Thus his proposed endeavor also has broad implications for the United States, where his work is critical to helping the nation meet its obligations under the Paris Agreement, which the United States officially rejoined on February 19, 2021.

Due to its clear national importance, his research has thus been supported with funding from the United States Department of Energy. Academically, his research has resulted in 3 peer-reviewed journal articles (2 of them first-authored) and 3 peer-reviewed conference articles (2 of them first-authored). Not only this but his research has also gone on to influence his peers. That is, these publications have been cited a total of 21 times according to Google Scholar.

Overall, his 7 years of work in the field have also given him a deep understanding of the field and helped him establish himself as inseparable from the national interests of the U.S. This led to the success of his NIW case.

We are proud of having helped him get this approval and we wish him the very best in his future endeavors.
