Case Summary:

A gifted postdoctoral research associate from Bangladesh contracted North America Immigration Law Group (WeGreened.com) to help him get closer to a green card. The first step our legal team took was to carefully evaluate our client’s credentials to determine which visa category he qualified for. Based on the information we gathered, we concluded that he possessed the credentials needed to file his green card case under EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver). Here are some of our client’s qualifications that convinced us he was suitable for this visa category:

  1. Advanced Degrees

Our client’s Ph.D. in Energy and Environmental Systems and M.Sc. in Environmental Engineering served as evidence that he has the necessary skills to carry out research of the highest quality. We were sure to submit copies of his degrees and transcripts to the USCIS.

  1. Extensive Research Experience

Our client has years of experience investigating the interrelation between climate variability and anthropogenic effects, as well as on water contamination. As his research directly contributes to the protection of water resources, ecological conservation, and sustainable city planning, we established that his work impacts the United States’ water supply and the environment at large. We also determined that only a handful of other environmental engineers have the knowledge and skills to conduct such in-depth and impactful research.

  1. Impressive Citation and Publication Count

We also highlighted our client’s notable citation and publication record. When we filed the case, our client’s work had gathered 47 citations and he had published 7 peer-reviewed journal articles, 4 technical reports, and numerous conference papers.

Overall, our client had strong credentials to make a good EB-2 NIW case. However, we determined that there was no harm strengthening the case further and thus, we advised our client to contact other experts in his field of environmental engineering to contribute recommendation letters. He managed to obtain six letters, all of which attested to the value of his work to not just the field, but the nation as a whole. For instance, one of these letters stated, “[Client] has been conducting critical research toward our goal of achieving healthy, uncontaminated drinking water; which clearly serves the national interest of the United States. If [Client] is not allowed to continue his work in the U.S., we will lose crucial expertise to accurately predict and manage groundwater contaminations.”

The USCIS spent close to seven months adjudicating this EB-2 NIW case. We are glad that they granted their approval, and we thank our client for choosing us to represent his case.
